Facial and neck creases, lines and wrinkles, loose and sagging skin—all these can change the way we look as we age. These effects can happen even sooner for people who have had lots of sun exposure. Cosmetic surgery can improve these signs of aging, and help put your appearance more in line with how young you feel.
With facelift surgery in Asheville, North Carolina the incisions usually begin inside your hairline at your temples and continues directly in front of and around to the bottom of your ear. Dr. Marshall may redistribute the fat in your face, and also re-position the underlying tissue to lift the deeper layers of your face as well. Your skin is then draped over your new facial contours, with the excess skin trimmed away. This method provides the most improvement in facial wrinkles and sagging skin.

After a facelift, Dr. Marshall will give you specific instructions on how to care for your incisions. You will have a facial wrap/bandage for 7 days to minimize swelling and bruising. After the first week, you may remove the wrap/collar to go outside your home, ie run errands, etc. You will be asked to sleep with your head elevated for the first 5 days after facelift surgery. Most of your stitches will dissolve on their own, and the superficial ones will be removed at your one week postoperative checkup. Dr. Marshall will want you to avoid vigorous physical activity for the first two weeks after your surgery. It usually takes two weeks to fully recover from these surgeries.
Pain after surgery is minimal, and most patients are taking Tylenol and/or Motrin after two days. Results from a deep-plane facelift will often last at least ten years and beyond.
