Dr. Marshall performs surgery for skin cancer removal, and has removed over 1,000 skin cancers.
Skin cancers are extremely common and are usually basal cell or squamous cell carcinomas. Melanomas, the more serious of all three types, are becoming more and more prevalent with the use of tanning beds.
Skin cancer removal surgery can be performed for all three of these skin cancer types without needing chemotherapy or radiation, IF they are caught and treated early. Most skin cancers can be detected by a dermatologist, internist, or family physician.
If you are over 50 and/or have a family history of skin cancer, it is a good idea to have a "whole body skin check" by a board-certified dermatologist. Dr. Marshall is an expert at removing the cancers from your skin and closing the skin so that your scars are barely visible. Most of these surgeries for skin cancer are done in his office and under local anesthetic (similar to what you would receive at the dentist). Occasionally, Dr. Marshall will advise that the operation be performed at a surgery center or hospital with sedation or general anesthesia.
